What're Words?

I wrote this like...a month back? I never got to post it..or even finish it:

Just came back from Brunei last night. Learnt a lesson. So gonna share it here. I stayed over at relative's in Brunei and the house was always, always full of kids... ranging from probably 1 year old to 12.

Now seems like a nice time to continue...when all I wanna do is do nothing, I guess I should accomplish something.

I was in Brunei, and there was a niece of mine who made an impression on me. Maybe it's because I knew that she's slightly autistic. She refuses to speak much. But if you paid attention to her, she'll communicate with you, and like any other kid, she's full of life and fun. The most she'd say is "Mmh!" and laugh. She'll point, nod, anything else.

That aside, I was there for a cousin's wedding. The other kids in the house decided to sing for her during the dinner, and left this autistic child out of their performance. The dinner came and they did go up stage to sing that sickening High School Musical the song. As they were starting, my niece just runned up the stage, and she just started to dance. So everything kinda went out of plan, but they continued nonetheless.

Haha, maybe I think too much (as usual) or I was just sleepy. No idea, but when she danced, there was just something just so simple, touching and soothing about it. She didn't have to sing, or talk. All she did was be herself. Which includes being unable to speak.

It just made me wonder. What're words? We all think that words is communication. Words mean so much to us. To hear a word of thanks, or an apology, all these things play so much significance. And yet, the simple act of this child dancing and enjoying herself seems to make more communication and serve more of a lesson to me.

I like this. I think I can sense the genuinity of the child. Her sense of joy and the pride of being herself. If only we are able to lose our guard sometimes.
