The season of Lent has arrived, for some of us. So i decided to put in here whatever I'd find relevant throughout. For those who don't know, two days ago was Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the Lenten season. Why ashes? To remind ourselves that we come from dust.
To represent repentance;
"...and sprinkled ashes on themselves to show that they had turned from their sins." --Luke 10:13
For those who celebrate this season, let's try together in one similar spirit to fast, pray and give alms. And for those who aren't let us try our best anyway to do these. To fast in giving up watching tv maybe, to fast by giving up the games or internet and spending a quiet time with God instead. To give alms by sharing with others what little we have, and by lending a hand to those around us.
"Return to me with your whole heart,
with fasting, and weeping and mourning;
Rend your hearts not your garments
and return to the Lord your God
Now- now is the favourable time." -- Joel 2
