Tapestry

Riiinnngg!
Thud! goes my heart!
with slight excitement and
much desperation.
My beast is time and
souls on the line.
My opponent a webbed and weaving tapestry
of old habits
and new rhymes singing old, old tunes
entangling all who had dared to tread
with hopes (what hopes?)
of breaking this ugly tune's clutch.
Inspiring tales I have none
Only a heart fueled by rage
but now mostly- numbed
Goliath and David!
Goliath and David!
I hear cries from around
Were that I were even a mere twig-
a smooth stone
But I fear the giant so corrupt,
so beastly and all-consuming- too big
Too big for I who already weigh a tonne
Too heavy, too heavy to ever be flung.

To everyone insane enough to attempt battling and grappling with an insane system. Here's end of week one of many more weeks to come. Weeks which will break you and make you, touch you and fill you with dread, humble you and drive you up the wall. I write this not to be pessimistic or cynical (yes, that's new) but simply to capture the spirit of exhaustion which is undeniably thick in the air. I never thought I'd ever see myself wearing the shoes of a teacher but here I am and boy, what a pair they are to fill.

It doesn't feel like the end of the week at all.
